@home, and loving it
She's COMING HOOOOOME

Holiday over again. Back in San Diego
Holidays are over... (12th January 2009 in the air above *looking at screen* a frozen North Canada)
So, back to work again. The boat's still in San Diego, where I left it just before Xmas. Holidays at home have been as usual, pretty stressful with all the stuff I needed to do, all the family and friends I wanted to spend time with. Didn't manage to do everything this time either. But I don't think I'll ever succeed with that. Mais ce n'est pas grave. Most things in life are about compromising and doing what one can.
First weekend I went to see my sister Philippa's new house together with Mom. A couple of hours' drive from Stockholm makes it a bit cumbersome to go visit, and there's a lot of renovating going on, but also a lot of potential and I think it'll be very nice once it's done.

Christmas eve we celebrated in my sister Johanna's house. As tradition has it; lots and lots of marvellous food, that of course you have to stuff yourself with almost to overflowing. Yes, I know; I'm somewhat addicted to food (first thing I bought Friday morning was liver pâté and soured milk) , but we all have to have some small addictions, right?;)
Kids got a lot of presents; among other things a Nintendo Ds Lite each from me. I can't remember at what age I got my Nintendo (NES), but I know it was something I really loved. I thought they're probably still a bit young for Super Mario, but that's a classic that they'll have to have sooner or later. Something you just _have_ to have if you've got video games. Part of the cultural up-bringing=)
New Year I spent with my dear friends Bäver and Ellda. This time around I got to spend quite some time with them; very happy about that. New Year we were chilling at a friend's place, starting the new year by playing Munchkin (pirate version). I won- wohoo! Never been much for partying - prefer being social at someone's home to going out trying to talk in a too loud bar/disco looking at drunk people.
Managed, after about a week and a half of hassle, to finally figure out how to install my new external network HD. It was sooo much easier when we figured our where to plug it in. It's kind of working now. Some small kinks I'm going to try and iron out next time I'm home. Couldn't be bothered to try and puzzle out some time for that this time.
Went with my nieces to the Royal Court's Stable one day to see them ride. I somehow managed to find myself up on the horse, trotting without stirrups. Haven't been on a horse for about three or so years. Sheesh I had some sore muscles the day after that=)
Thursday night James, and Chris -who I haven't seen for what, two years now- came up to spend the weekend with me in Stockholm. I'm so happy they could come. They're much fun; sometimes like a couple of big boys just tumbling around, and just constantly lovely. Haven't been teased in French in a while. Actually, when I think about it; it's mostly at work I get teased. Not too many of my Swedish friends tease me =s.
So my poor brain suddenly had to switch back and forth between Swedish, English, and French. I absolutely love to speak French, and English is more or less automatic by now, but mix trying to sort out whom you're speaking what to, with quite some lack of sleep, and that's a mix that'll be sure to get you confused. But, boy was I pleased to run around town with a couple of handsome, charming Frenchmen in my arms...

Friday we went shopping, I took them to a pre-party at a friend's place and then we went to see what kind of party Tech Noir was. I must admit that lately I've taken a liking to that kind of music. I haven't had the opportunity to dance to it too much (this was the first time) but definitively think it's much better than trance or "dance music". Some of the clothes in there were... interesting. Others were cool and some just plain strange. Got to spend a little time with some other friends there as well.
Saturday I showed them around Karlberg Castle a bit; kind of have to, seeing as I've been a student there myself=) We also went to see the Wasa Museum. At night we had a good dinner and visited the Stockholm Ice Bar. Went down to Söder (South) and found a shopping mall that had been turned into a bar for the night. Pretty cool, actually, and packed with people.
Sunday we had a lazy day. I made Falukorv (big Swedish sausage) in the oven with boiled potatoes, and Skagenröra toast for entrée. I've made them taste a few different kinds of Swedish food; soured milk (kind of like a sour yoghurt), semlor (cream bun with almond paste, traditionally eaten around Lent), and, my favourite candy; salty liquorice skulls. Poor Chris trusted me (or was too tired to think) and just opened his mouth so I could pop one in as we were playing cards Sunday night with my flatmate Mimmi. P r i c e l e s s. I had cramps in my stomach. The tears were pouring from my eyes as I tried to breathe enough not to faint, curled in a little ball on the floor as I was, desperately gasping for air. _That's_ ROTFLMAO (Rolling On The Floor Laughing My Arse Off). Poor Chris. His eyes popped and he tried and tried (pretty impressed by that, actually, he's the who's had it in the longest so far) and tried but finally he gave up. The skulls are a bit... harsh.... when you're not used to them. But well done by him. *pleased, slightly evil little laugh* He did promise some kind of retribution next time I'm down in Southern France. Will be interesting to see what he comes up with=)

So. Holiday over. Had a very good ending, you really see your city with new eyes when you guide tourists around. Spent some precious time with my friends and family. Didn't have time to see all, though, and some I just didn't have the energy to chase down. Maybe next time. Or whenever I grow up and move back home. We'll see.
Mexico. Again...
We had a looong last pull on our season. 31 days without time off, working hard every day. When that period was finally over, we had the opportunity to spend a few days at a local pool, close to San Jose Del Cabo just chilling and reading books and doing _nothing_. Soooo nice=)

This morning we just relocated to Cabo San Lucas. Nice to be back in the center of things (as they go here in Mexico). Had a quick stroll around the harbour area, and found a place to help the wildlife. For a certain donation, they let you hold a 6weeks tigercub and get you picture taken. Well, it was for a good cause, so I "sacrificed" myself.

My next thing to look forward to is that I'M COMING HOME FOR XMAS HOLIDAYS 19 DECEMBER - 11 JANUARY!!!
So, see you soon, my friends=)
San Diego after holidays
It was very nice to be home for a while, even though it as usual was too short a time to do everything I wanted to do and also be able to R&R (rest and recover). I saw my family and some of my friends, my best friend Erika finally managed to lure me up to Umeå to see her life as a student. A lot of things didn't really happen as I had hoped and planned, but I've lerant to be pretty flexible during my short stays at home. I changed my flatmate to a woman, and we actually had time for some girlie talk before I left. I do really miss not having anyone to have girlie talks with now and then when I'm at work. Nothing wrong with my roomie there, we just don't have the connection, so to speak, to talk about stuff like that...
Finally I had enough (well, everything is relative, especially time) time to spare a few days to go and visit my dear friends down in Belgium. Hadn't been there for two years, way too long, but what can you do with a life like mine? I'm very happy I took the time to go there, and those few days I couldn't really do anthing but relax, were very good for me. Too bad most of my friends have found new places and I've lost contact with them, but I managed to reconnect with a few even so. I was very happy to see my host family again, and for the first time, Georges, the latest addition to the Franquet Family=))
So, back onboard again the boat is in San Diego, having moved from all the storms down in Mexico. I'm not too sure about San Diego yet. It's a big city, the roads a pretty huge and you can't go anywhere from where we are unless you have a car. Which for me personally is a bit annoying, since I'm not very keen on taking the car out by myself and drive, especially on the roads here. At least the boat finally got a navigational system for the car, a small TomTom to help us get lost when we're out on the roads. The guys onboard hd it on a female voice, but I've changed it since I came onboard and noone has changed it back again. hehe. I prefer listening to men to tell me where to go instead of a woman. must be a girlie thing or something;)

Here in the harbour we've got a sea lion who likes to play around the boats. Haven't come up with a name for him yet, and luckily he hasn't been sleeping on our boat. We've got enough of a problem with the seagulls fly-bombing us...
My father has a couple of friends who live here, Larry and Grace. They took me out one weekend to see the sights of San Diego. I had a wonderful weekend with them; they are really lovely people and I'm looking forward to be able to see them again when we've finished with our season and are spending at least parts of the winter here. If I'm lucky with time I might even be able to see a real american Thanksgiving dinner=))
I got myself a Nintendo DS Lite and the game Brain Age, to train my brain. Pretty fun game, it helps me practise things I don't normally use, like quick mathematical problems, sudoko (which I've recently got hooked on), memorising words, making the brain look for right kind of information quickly=)
The life of a seaman...

The marina here in La Paz, (MEXICO, not Bolivia - can't believe how many ppl think Bolivia since it doesn't even have a coast) is very nice. Clean, well built, good security and enthusiastic dayworkers (maybe a bit too quick-working sometimes, it's hard to keep up and point out all the spots they've missed), and pretty close to a nice hotel pool with internet (can't take my computer there since my battery is F***ed and only lasts for about 20min tops, plus it's the only one onboard that goes online at the moment, even if you do have to sit in the bridge and use a cable (vista actually works for once)) and very nice Strawberry Daiquiris (my new favourite drink, virgin, of course;) I guess the big bad thing with this spot (apart from the faulty internet) is that our neighbours are currently forced to be on generators, and every morning when they change their gennie, they spit out soot. So for the past few days I've been washing down more or less every day, just to wake up and find that we've got the black dog again (or black measles or something for the non-Swenglish speaking). I'm getting slightly fed up with this tradition.... Especially since I definitively won't have time for it when guests are coming/are onboard... and it stains the paint. I get most of it off, but you still see the shadows of the marks everywhere....
I'm sooo happy I've got my holidays coming up (15th of August arriving in Stockholm, leaving morning 12th of September to Brussels, leaving Brussels to chase the boat down on the 15th of September). It's been a long time since I've been home, (beginning of January) and I miss my family and friends. This time I'm combining my weeks from this year with some time from next, so I'll have time to fly by Belgium on the way back... Been too long since I went past there, but with so little time at home, it's hard to take more off to go visiting around the world... Oh, and the Swedish food. Poor Mr T is sooo unhappy with me right now. When we went out for lunch the other day, what I thought was an innocent filet of beef with mushroom and cheese, was stuffed with really, really spicy jalapeños... Mr T got cramps and I started to cry and was _not_ amused. The rest of the crew was, though... Even by just burping later that evening my throat started burning. *poor me* At least the local beer is pretty nice.

I know, I know, I haven't written anything since Norfolk, but it's been really busy since then. Going from Norfolk to NW coast of Mexico is a pretty long way on a slow boat like this... Stowing for sea, bumping along, unstowing, preparing for guests, guests, stowing for sea, bouncing along, etc... Busy busy...
I went up to Baltimore for another weekend to see Andrew and Kathy, had loads of fun, getting hooked on Munchkin the games. Hopefully I'll be able to find it later on and someone who wants to play with me... No fun being hooked on a game when noone wants to play with me...
From Norfolk (or rather Portsmouth) we went to Ft Lauderdale in Florida a few days to bunker and re-stock supplies. I was lucky to get some precious time with my friend Eric there, which was very good, especially since I don't know when I'll get to see him again.
Ft L to Colón, Panama went pretty quickly. So far not too bad weather, but not really a smooth ride either. I might have found some kind of sea legs, but I'm keeping my seasickness pills close by even so... We had a couple of very very busy days to get the boat ready for guests, and then had a few days around the San Blas Islands. Which are the kind you think about when you picture the paradise islands, but not really on my pictures since it was more or less constantly overcast. Not that I'm really complaining, the thorough showers helped me get the salt off, I didn't have to mess around too much with chamois and cushions in the mornings and it kept the weather relatively cool. The local indians always come around to boats at anchor; paddling out in their canoes and trying to sell you stuff or beg freebies (drinks, candy, fresh water, charge my telephone, etc). One afternoon we put the gazebo up for a late lunch for our guests. That was the kind of thing you see in the magazines. Because of sand flies we put the table and chairs and gazebo in the shallow water. I don't know what was wrong with the sand flies. It didn't matter which bug spray, or how much, they didn't care at all. And they were hungry. The next day I was completely _covered_ in itching bites on my arms and legs. I even managed to scratch enough to scar... No fun the week or so it took for the bites to go away. Some of the guests wanted to do some water sports, and have the crew with them playing. I got put upon a sea biscuit and towed behind the tender. I managed to stay on for all the heats, until we went two against two. It's nigh near impossible to stay on when your partner goes off and upsets the balance... But it was fun, and I got to try my wakeboarding skill again as well. And yep, they're still on the same level as when I tried last time a couple of years ago. I can stand up until I almost cramp, and as soon as I try to change leg, I go nose-diving... But hey, better than nothing;)

The Panama Canal wasn't too exciting, really. The locks in the Great Lakes were much more fun. Since we went through at night there wasn't too much of a view. We had ten linehandlers onboard, and me running around trying to get them to understand that everything onboarda a yacht is expensive and FRAGILE. I’m so happy I didn’t varnish the cap rails before the canal. Because they are now badly scratched in a few places… The men down here are so chauvinistic. Panama City was pretty big and dirty. Had a day there after the guests left to look around. I found my beloved Lancaster sunscreen. Finally. Just because I want just that brand, it’s impossible to find… but it is GOOD sunscreen…We stopped in Costa Rica, Los Suenos for a few days. I went zip lining. So much fun, that. I even got to make a couple of runs upside down… And I’ve got that on my camera… Proof! Nearly chewed of a line in the marina – constantly a big swell in there.Next stop was Acapulco for a few hours for bunkering. Had a quick look in town. Dirty, and touristy. Not too much to see, really… Got inspected by the military whilst bunkering; they almost brought a drug dog onboard. Exciting… And now, La Paz. Loads of cactus everywhere, and dry. The town itself is small, not too much in there. Except the skin series of Lancaster, which I’m now trying=)The sea life here is crazy. I though that Mexico was famous for its hopping peas or beans, but maybe the fish ate them all because I can’t find any jumping plants, only fish, dolphins and rays. There was this one evening when we say about six or seven flocks or groups or schools or pods or whatever the name is of jumping rays. Looked pretty funny with them jumping high in the air, flapping their wings and trying to fly… Must be mating season for the turtles. We’ve passed a lot of turtles, big ones mostly, and quite a few of them were cuddling… Time for me to pack up and walk back to the boat. Internet is so not on today, but I wanted to get this up, so I packed up and went to the hotel. Shall be good with an early night tonight. Hope all is well with you, my friends. Keep in touch!

Kiss kiss
Flyyyyyying

So see you soon!
Norfolk

We're now in dry-dock (in a manner of speaking - we're really on a wagon on land, but it kind of amounts to the same thing; no water under the keel, poor chefie has no aircon in his galley, the big walk-in fridges and freezer are offline, getting supplies onboard is a bit of a mission, etc). Mostly doing engineering stuff, and inspections, and a bit of cleaning on the deck side. Since we got absolutely hammered on the way up here (Captain runs of for a few days to run a marathon, and every time we move with the relief captains we get slammed), the boat i S A L T Y, and I haven't been able to give it the good, thorough clean it desperately needs since we were too busy preparing other stuff in the beginning, then someone stole our deck water pump for service so I had to run around with buckets to get the water I needed - and no way I was going to wash down a boat like that - and now when it's finally back and working again, we got yard workers grinding and painting on the hull, so I'm not allowed to toss any water overboard and get them wet... Just sanded a few of the decks, which makes me happy we didn't wash the boat down last weekend since we're now _covered_ in teak dust. But now they've finished with that, so I'm having an early start tomorrow to rinse the dust off. I think the latest plan is to have a couple of dayworkers in on Sat or so to wash down the boat. Can't wait for it...

This is from the crossing. There should be a fore peak, jackstaff, bell, anchor winches and some other stuff there somewhere... Though sometime the bell was ripped off... That's a first, so now we have to repair it and find someone to make us a new bell rope (fockeldrevsudd in Swedish). At least we didn't have tooo much damage. Could've been worse=)

Anyone wondering why we started to leak some saltwater into the bridge?=)
I've managed to start my training (again), since there's not much else to do around here. too bad that they haven't really made the city for people who want to excersize; after going for about 12min in the safe direction you end up by the Navy hospital, and then you have to turn back home again. Luckily they're kind enough to let me in to run on their track if I bring my military id with me, so I don't have to feel like I'm going back and forth on a boring strecth of pavement all the time...
We'll see what happens when we're finished here. Depending on when we're finished, decision will be made on where we'll end up. Most likely not the Med, though, I'm sorry to say, though it's kind of nice to be here in the States as well, since every place I go here is new.
My next holiday home will be in August, I think. Not sure yet, as usual, but at least that's my aim. Until then, cheerios=)

Atlantis

At the moment we're in Bahamas for a trip. Nice weather, and it's soooo good to have the boat clean and sparkling again.
Atlantis Resort, on Paradise Island just North of Nassau, is amazing. Huge, and what a dream for families or even maybe for a honeymoon. At least as long as you've got some money to spend. Cheap is not the word...
Almost out!

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been updating my blog, but first I was too busy, then too lazy and/or too forgetful. But I'll make an effort of at least getting something new up=)
We're still in the yard, but have finally decided to leave for the Bahia Mar Marina here in Ft Lauderdale. Though I'm not counting on it to be absolutely certain until we've actually cast off early tomorrow morning. (The pic above is from when we had to go through the VIP wardrobe to get in and out of the boat)
A couple of weeks ago we went to the Everglades for a day to go look at alligators and go on an airboat. That wasa fun day, the 'gators we're small and slow since it's winter here now, but we got to see some and have some close-ups with the local pelicans.

Finally the boat is starting to look like a yacht again, though at the moment it's pretty dirty, but we're going to give it (another) big clean, hopefully it'll last a bit more than a couple of days out of the yard dirt. I can't wait to have the decks cleaned up, even though actually two-parting them isn't at the top of my favourite things to do-list.
I got through my Yachtmaster Offshore 200GT course okay, the theory was easy as I'd done it before, but the practical part was new and much harder, especially since we didn't get morethan three days of actually driving the boat. Not a lot when you've never driven that kind of boat before, but I MADE IT=) *someone thinks that I can captain boats* We saw a couple of manatees, they live here in the channels, and you have to look out for them as well as for the dreaded Jungle Queen, a paddle steamer that goes up and down the river with tourists. When she comes it's a good time to try and hide... She's pretty big for the size of the river, and just because you've stopped your own engines doesn't mean that you'll actually stay put...

Bye Bye Cold!

Yeeezzzz.. Finally we've finished our season and time in the big apple, and joined the warmth and sun again. I am sooo looking forward to be able to be barefoot on deck without freezing my toes off, and to wash down in clothes that don't make me feel like a michelin man...
Though I must confes I'm slightly worried about Trevor's ideas of declaring Frida every day the rest of his time so he can throw me overboard for all the weeks he's missed out. NOT FAIR, I say, but, who ever listens to me? *muttering* Does ANYONE have any foolproof, or even just good ideas for me to avoid getting dunked? My best shot didn't do anything else than give me a scar... Oh well...
So, what have I done with my time in NY? Slightly over two months, and most of that we've spent working, including weekends. I've managed to meet up with some friends, most of whom I've never met before, last one was Marvin, who joined me for a bit of sightseeing last week=) Thank you very much for that, I had a lovely time=)

I've seen Blue Man Group again, absolutely wonderful as always, went to Stomp, very good. We got the opportunity to see Cirque de Soleil as well. Amazing show, even though the NY show is family orientated and apparently not as good or exotic as the other shows are. Impressive nonetheless. I think my favourite were the singing and dancing light-posts=)
The last week I actually managed to get my arse out and do some kind of sightseeing. I took the subway to the NW corner of Central Parc. Or, rather, tried to. Since the New Yorkian subway system is not as modern and clear as I'm used to from the Swedish orderly one, I managed to get lost a few times. I should have taken one direct train, but managed to change trains five times, and then I still ended up at the wrong station. Oh well, decided to walk down south through the parc, keeping the houses in sight on my right hand side so as to not get lost. And where did I end up? In the NW corner, after somehow having managed to walk a big circle and change direction. *shaking my head* Gave up, and managed to take the right train down to the southern end, where I met up with Marvin and we walked down south, passing Times Square, had dinner at Tuesdays something, had a look at NY at night from the top of Imperial State Building. Very nice view=)
There is something about me and some big cities. I just get lost as soon as I turn around a corner. So far Berlin and NY have made it to that list. I hope it won't grow any longer...
Anyway, now I'm finally down in Florida, Ft Lauderdale, in the yard, and I'm looking forward to the warmer weather, maybe being able to do some excersise again, and the holidays coming up - I'll be home in Stockholm between 15th of December to 6thof January!
Just because you're a good person, doesn't mean you can't have a _bad_ influence on ppl...
Still in New York, and it's getting colder still. Today it was about 13degrees Celsius, and rainy most of the day. We're busy busy as usual, no sleep-ins for me this weekend either, though at least my cold is getting better.
Last weekend I went to BALTIMORE to finally, after what, seven or so years of only internet contact, see my friend Andrew and his wife, Kathy. A really good idea, I must say. I had a WONDERFUL weekend, again, thank you so much! Went down by bus, some confusion about the time to get there, so somewhere towards the end I started panicking a bit about maybe having caught the wrong bus. Luckily I hadn't. Andrew picked me up at the station, we went by his house on our way to pick Kathy. Then it was time to feed Mr Tapeworm (our relief engineer Travis used to say I was living in a symbiotic relationship with Mr Tapeworm) and we went to Appleby's, a typical American family diner. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal, very good food (and yes, the company too;). On our way home we went past a book store with sale. Not good. Not good at all. Though now I've at least gotten a fair way on my xmas shopping list=). Luckily I didn't pack more than half the bag I had brought...
Saturday we went to the yearly Maryland medieval fair. Much much bigger than I thought it would be. Much fun, we sat forever in a car queue (what is it with America and car queues?) to get the last couple of miles, almost managed to hide the car from ourselves, and saw a few good bands (mostly Scottish, for some reason), loads of shops with interesting stuff, and a jousting match at the fair. I found a couple of nice horns for Halloween, and Andrew got himself a kilt. I challenged him on the Strong-man thingy (where you have a sledge hammer and try to get a thingy to go all the way up to the top), but we were equal there, so no one won. That sledge hammer was REALLY heavy!
Andrew and Kathy are very early risers, and thanks to my cold I was, as well. Sunday we went to a mall, I managed not to buy too much more stuff, hooray for me=) So, Andrew and Kathy are LOVELY people, but they seemed to take me to way to many good stores to shop... Bad influence.... t-t-t-t *shaking head* oh, and ERIKA - got a present for you from them, and I know what it is, and YOU don't.... Hahahahahahaha *sweet revenge*
NEW YORK. The day we got here it was foggy, all the way to the first bridge. We were a bit worried that we wouldn't se anything, but luckily it cleared up enough for us to see some of the city, though the sky was grey. As we had some time before the tide was right, we took a small detour around the statue of Liberty and up the river.
The first weeks we spent next to a golf training range. It's protected by netting, but even so quite a few golf balls made it through the net. Most days we found a ball or two on deck, and sometimes a mark that wouldn't rub off. Now we've moved a bit, so no more golf balls to duck for=)
Being next door to a gym managed to get me motivated enough to sign up for a month. Did some yoga classes, and something called zumba - 45min of energetic dancing, everything from Charleston to hip hop. Though now, with guests coming so often and us not knowing how long we're staying, I haven't signed up again. I'm going to try and do some stuff onboard instead, wish me good luck, I'm sure it'll be as always - I'll manage for a day or so, and then it's just back to maña maña...
Next week I'm looking forward to going to Stomp with Kaz and Yves. Have been wanting to see that one for quite some time now=)
Halloween - we're celebrating that onboard this weekend, and I've just made my second pumpkin ever! Cool, huh?

Bad Mita

Yes, I know, I'm lousy at writing diary's. But at least I'm trying. So, here goes;
First; the cake above was the birthday cake I got last Monday. A Pancake-cake! *very happy* If you happen to wonder about the shape of it, one of the nicks they've got for me onboard is Porky (since I eat quite a lot) Good birthday, thank you for texts and mails! Got a new, wireless headset as a present from the crew, very much appreciated since I'd managed to break mine a couple of weeks ago.
Talking about a couple of weeks ago; I've bought a very cool painting from an artist I've been thinking about about a year and a half, ever since I spent a weekend in Biarritz in Southern France. I haven't seen this particular painting, yet, but it looks sooo cool on the picture.

Made by Stéphane Braud in oil, under water. No, I'm not pulling any legs, he actually goes down to the bottom of the sea and paints... I think this one is made on a depth of 24m or so. *happy about my painting* Can barely wait until I get home in December for three or so weeks.... Maybe beginning of week 51 - just after the 6th or so of January.... But I haven't bought any tickets, yet, so....
CHICAGO. Looks pretty small on the map, at least the central bit. But it's not, when you start walking. Our berth was in a marina at McCormack Center. Apparently it didn't exist. At least according to the taxis. We gave up trying to get them to come to us. Internet didn't work in the marina, and walking to the closest internetcafe took about 30min, at least. Subway was another five or ten minutes.
People here really like their cigarett boats. Smallish sleek boats with lots of power and sound. Fisrt night in Chicago we were sitting on the foredeck having a beer or two. Even lots, and drinks to go with that. Someone got the bright idea to test the water balloon sling shot. Lots of moving targets in the marina; boats going in and out. Then, a bit later, JAson, the chef went overboard. AND he took Yves (captain) with him. GOOD work. Then it ended up with everyone going in. I was the last one being thrown in, it took them quite a bit of effort to get me over the side. I almost made them give up. At least the water was warm=)
Went to my first (and only) baseball game. I'm not much of a looking-at-sports-person, and baseball isn't the most exciting kind of game to watch. But an experience. Chicago Cubbs lost.
Blue man group. www.blueman.com. REALLY REALLY AMAZING. They do shows in Europe and USA/Canada. A must see of possible. Three funny men playing with paint and making wonderful music on recycled pvc pipes. A bit like Stomp, I think (haven't seen them yet, so I can't say for sure).
It took us a while to get out of Chicago; while servicing the engines onboard the company doing it managed to explode one of the cylinders. NOT good with owners coming onboard and wanting to leave.
MACKINACK ISLAND. Cool place. Smelt wonderful (like horses) No cars allowed on the island; only bikes and horses.
TORONTO. Forgot to babble a bit of my time there. Finally got a pair of sunglasses I've been looking at for a few long months. Maui Jim, reeeeeaally expensive, but looking goooood=) And good for the eyes. Hard to find glasses I like that are polarised and have brown lenses.
We went to a hypnotist's show, Mike Mandel. I got up on stage to try and get hypnotised. Didn't work on me this time either. Oh well, I guess I'm just too self-controlled to let go enough, and it's more fun watching the poor people on stage anyway=) Got a couple of his brainsoftware-cds, and at least the memorypower one I like, haven't listened to the other one, relaxing and de-stressing, as yet.
One of hte last nights we went up into the CN Tower, pretty cool, too bad the sun set so early. That's where I found the moose in the picure below. Poor David was petrified, but he did good. Real good, at least until the guys decided to give him a bit of a scare. T-t-t-t-t *shaking head*
HALIFAX, Nova Scotia. Back to salty water again *sigh*. It was sooooo good to have a summer of fresh water. Now everything is back to being sticky and likely to rust whenever you turn your back to it. The Monday, first day we were there, we were off. As was the rest of the city, more or less. Bank holiday or something. Kind of boring walking around a city were almost everyhing is closed. We did manage to get hold of the newly released Heroes. Then the rest of the day was spent with the crew watching "just one more episode" of Heroes. That trend kept on for the rest of the week. I'm still two or so episodes from the end of season one, just haven't had the kick in the butt I need to watch the last ones. There's always something else to to. Or someone else to have to tv. Blah, boring sports....
Lobster. Apparently the lobster here is among the best in the world. I tried it. Cooked in two different ways, and no, I still didn't like it. The crew went off for dinner at a restaurant. Sheesh ppl got drunk. We had lots of fun, but poor staff. Trevor (Travis) came out. And got us into the Dome, the local huge partyzone. Cool establishment, the que outside makes you think you're in Stockholm, but it's a few floors and lots of different dance floors inside. Trevor talked the talk and got us into the Dome, passing the que without actually stopping in it. *go trev, go trev* Before that I got to try a body shot. Not me doing it, though. I still don't shot. But it was a fun experience. Even though too much salt was used and I had a very salty belly button for the reminder of the evening.
Leaving Halifax for New York was interesting. A REALLY foggy morning. Didn't see shit. Hooray for radars!
Mita likes Canada

Hey all! I must say that I quite enjoy Canada, even though there are millions of insects (that luckily enough haven't been biting us) and I haven't found any moose to eat, only to hug (see above)... People are friendly, my favourite city so far is Montreal, where I can practice my French, and it's not too far to things, and where I've found quite a few interesting stores.
Toronto, which we are leaving tomorrow, is quite big. I've been too busy here to have seen much, have done a bit of shopping, and gone up the CN Tower, the highest tower in the world with 447m, but have not gone to the Niagara falls. Got a new friend, David, here in Toronto. He's been working onbord to help us get the boat ready, and today he made my day by bringing me authentic Kalle's Caviar and lingonberry jam. *very happy* Now I'll be able to survive until the next time I'll get home...
By the way, if anyone is thinking about geting a new pc, my advice is to avoid Vista. I should know, I didn't.... Annoying as ....
The australians are taking over. Last week someone told me that I had a vaguely australian accent. I'm spending way to much time with australians. Panic!!! =)
But now it's my turn to turn in early, and to get up early tomorrow morning. So have a good night or day!

Skin
Had a bit of a shopping frenzy last weekend. Canada is good shopping, at least Montreal is. Have been more or less seriously looking for a skin skirt, as well as a jacket, and new, nice boots. Apparently, leather is very big here in Canada. Found a store who sold skirts, tried one on, and then a jacket, and then the owner of the store said he would give me the skirt for free if I bought the jacket, just because it fit me so well and that I would make publicity for his store. My little shopping-devil went crazy and started rocking the canoe (yes, I'm aware that Erika's probably the only one who'll get this, but I don't care=P), and while the indians were busy trying not to fall in the freezing water (this is Canada, after all), he made me buy it. Not that I'm unhappy. Now one of my goals is to find opportunities to wear the things... And of course a few new tops that I can wear to it ...
A few hours later I just wanted to try out a pair of boots, which actually were quite comfortable, and more or less what I've been wanting to get, and since the owner of THAT store gave me a special price since it was his last boots and I was so pretty and bla bla bla I found myself walking off with new boots and a few freebies. Still happy.
Then I had a problem. I had tried on another leather jacket that I REALLY liked, and kept thinking of and thinking of, so I went back there yesterday just to try and get it out of my head. I don't really need two leather jackets, do I? I do. Don't . Do. Don't. Ehm... Anyway, went back, tried it on again, managed to convince myself that yes, it' GORGEOUS, but really a bit to thin, and look what a pretty bag almost exactly what I need (if you can't win over the shopping-devil, distract him), so I left the store with a very nice, new leather bag and a happy devil. Hooray for me!
Still not thinking too hard about that other jacket.
Finally!

Finally - internet is working for a while! Here In Montreal we're having HUGE problems with the internet, but...
Canada is beautiful, but the weather is difficult. Either it's really cold, or it feels like you're melting.
At the moment I'm looking forward to a couple of weeks of normal working hours, and thus a chance to go exploring a bit in Montreal. It looks very promising. So far I've been out playing laser dome, lots of fun, second time ever for me, and after ten minutes I was really really hot, and we got to go "saute-moutons", eg. go in waterjet boats to play in the rapids. I had the luck (?) of getting the second worst/best (definitively most challenging) seat. Even now, a couple of days later, my neck is really sore from taking the pounding of those massive waves. But it was loads of wet fun.
All these days when internet is down I keep saying tomyself that I'm going to write a looong text about my holidays in Sweden and stuff, but now that I actually have the chance to do it, brainfreeze... Oh well, I'm sure that internet will go down again soon and that I might actually write some notes then. Maybe. It is at least possible;)
Kisses to all of you who actually read this now and then, and good for you that you took the shot to see if I had written something new. I guess this is my new years' wov; to write more regurarly in this diary. And we all know what you are supposed to do with these promises (break them more or less asap...)
She's coming back again!!!
So see you soon
Sharks sharks sharks!

Here we are, the crew out to have dinner at a very very nice restaurant in St Lucia called The Green Salamander or something such. Very polite personnell, excellent food, and very cosy. Recommended!
At the moment I'm in St Maarten again, already getting the boat ready for the next guest trip coming up very very soon. Last trip was fun. Had a bunch of adolescent girls that made life interesting. They had fun, we hope, and we had fun, so that's all good. Weather was good, one day it as so hot that when I poured water on the windows they steamed. Literally... That's hot...
One very hot day a few snorkels were dropped overboard, so the "poor" crew had to go off snorkeling to try and find them. During this time when I had to pla.. hum.. work in the water, I saw loads of cool stuff; fish, a huge black starfish with yellow thorns all over, a big shell with its owner looking out at me, followed a turtle for a while (they're quite big), and suddenly, a big, dark brown, SHARK came gliding along the bottom, passed underneath me and after that the boat, and disappeared. My first live shark ever. It was about my length, a bit longer (had to follow it as I could and measure, of course;) and soooo cool.
Got to go with the guests to play paparazzi when they went ziplining. So much fun. Like the local fun fair, but no candy and more of a rush. If you ever get the chance to go sliding from treetop to treetop, do it!
And now I have to get out do do some excersize or something. Cloudy day, so no 40*C today. Jippie!
Kiss kiss, missing you all!
Ok, I'll take it in Eng for u...;)
Went diving yesterday, that was so great, haven't been diving for real for about eight years or so, and I found a muray, a hot spring, and a turtle, amid all the local fishies (yes, I know it's fish=P ) and corals. It's been great cruising a bit for our own pleasure the last few days, just taking it easy and checking out spots to take the guests. Though it does feel a bit strange to be at anchor, moving so much and not have guests onboard. Not that I'm complaining!
Well, time to go to bed for me, hope you're all well, and take care.
Kiss kiss=)
