Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been updating my blog, but first I was too busy, then too lazy and/or too forgetful. But I'll make an effort of at least getting something new up=)

We're still in the yard, but have finally decided to leave for the Bahia Mar Marina here in Ft Lauderdale. Though I'm not counting on it to be absolutely certain until we've actually cast off early tomorrow morning. (The pic above is from when we had to go through the VIP wardrobe to get in and out of the boat)

A couple of weeks ago we went to the Everglades for a day to go look at alligators and go on an airboat. That wasa fun day, the 'gators we're small and slow since it's winter here now, but we got to see some and have some close-ups with the local pelicans.



Finally the boat is starting to look like a yacht again, though at the moment it's pretty dirty, but we're going to give it (another) big clean, hopefully it'll last a bit more than a couple of days out of the yard dirt. I can't wait to have the decks cleaned up, even though actually two-parting them isn't at the top of my favourite things to do-list.

I got through my Yachtmaster Offshore 200GT course okay, the theory was easy as I'd done it before, but the practical part was new and much harder, especially since we didn't get morethan three days of actually driving the boat. Not a lot when you've never driven that kind of boat before, but I MADE IT=) *someone thinks that I can captain boats* We saw a couple of manatees, they live here in the channels, and you have to look out for them as well as for the dreaded Jungle Queen, a paddle steamer that goes up and down the river with tourists. When she comes it's a good time to try and hide... She's pretty big for the size of the river, and just because you've stopped your own engines doesn't mean that you'll actually stay put...
